Competences and background

There are many photographers around. Most specialise in portrait photography. I have done a couple of those. My predominant focus is on niche hobbies though. Before I started kims.photo I played airsoft. I still do. It is a community that is overexposed in terms of videos and underexposed in terms of high quality photographs. I saw an opportunity for community development as well as a open market for high quality photographs. This lead me to another niche sport namely racing based on scooter platforms. This has solidified the direction in which I will work as a photographer. That doesn’t mean I exclude other options such as landscape, portrait and so on. It is merely a question of prioritising assignments as well as funds for acquisitions of equipment.

Current assignments and projects

2020-: Airsoft and community development
It is my contention that photography and community (and subsequently market) development go hand-in-hand as photography is the portrayal of the community – especially when it is done in a way that the community prefers to see it self. The participants or airsofters as they prefer to be called range from those that are inspired by paintball to those that are inspired by various military units. See portfolio.

2021-: Loosely attached to the Danish racer, Jeppe Juul
I met Jeppe Juul via airsoft. He invited me to a show race in 2021. He wanted me to see his hobby and eventually take photographs of him and his co-riders. The first show race was held by the Silkeborg-based company, Speedline. The second show race I partook in was held in the Danish village, Allingaabro called Allingaabro Motorfestival. See portfolio.

Ad hoc projects

In addition to the ongoing activities I also do ad hoc jobs such as portraits of various kinds. Sometimes it is portraits of participants in niche hobbies. I have also done a confirmation as well as a family portrait. In addition I seek out extreme weather as I find heavy rain and thunder interesting. Finally I like to portray wild life in the city.
