Jeppe Laugesen, a young racer, invited me to my second race, this time in Allingaabro, which is a village that hosts a fairly large motorfestival. As a photographer whose primary interest is unique sports and hobbies, a race featuring custom scooters is a rare opportunity. Because of its uniqueness this racing community is underexposed especially by dedicated photographers. There is thus a feeling of mutual interest such as in the picture below. To be part of their antics and stunts is a privilege.

During this show I predominantly swapped between my Nikkor 70-200 mm AF-S VR f/2.8 because I could get fairly close to the racing track and because it is fast and my Nikkor 24 -70 mm 1:2.8G ED for the broader shots. Occasionally I would switch to my Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 for real close close ups, yet because of the speed of the racers and the shape of the track, it was impractical. There is always a trade off between wanting to be able to zoom in and being able to adjust fast. That being said I did manage to capture the picture below with the Tamron.

The next racing event I will participate in is Racetour.dk’s in Southern Denmark, which is a real race.
